VEU rebates Hamilton: What can you actually get?

September 23, 2026

If you’re looking into VEU rebates in Hamilton, you’ve probably seen some pretty big figures advertised. Whether those numbers apply to your heater, air conditioner or hot-water upgrade depends on a number of things. Around here, we’d go so far as to say it’s fifty shades of orange!

That’s why Finchetts checks the details before quoting. We show you any applicable VEU support alongside the full scope of work and, importantly, what you’ll actually pay.

What can VEU rebates support?

The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program offers discounts for eligible energy-efficient upgrades, including some heating, cooling and hot-water systems.

The amount of support varies depending on the upgrade and your existing system, which is why a big advertised rebate figure doesn’t necessarily tell you what will apply to your job.

Three things that can change the rebate

1. What you have now

Replacing an older ducted heater is different from replacing a standalone room heater. Hot-water replacements can also vary depending on the existing system.

We need to know what’s already installed before we can check which VEU options may apply.

2. What you’re upgrading to

A heat-pump hot-water system or reverse-cycle heating and cooling may be worth considering. The replacement needs to suit your home and meet the applicable program requirements if VEU support is part of the plan.

And the system with the biggest advertised rebate isn’t necessarily the best choice.

Your comfort, how you use the system and your budget matter too. Finchetts also continues to install, service and repair gas systems, so we can talk through the different options available rather than pushing one particular solution.

3. The work the job requires

Two properties with similar old systems can still need very different work.

Electrical supply, plumbing, gas connections, equipment placement and removal of the old equipment can all affect the scope of the job and the final cost.

That’s why looking at the whole job matters.

Why the full quote matters

A rebate figure is useful, but it doesn’t answer everything.

Will the new system suit the rooms you need to heat and cool? Is electrical work required? Does plumbing or gas need to be disconnected or altered? Who removes the old equipment? And who handles the paperwork?

Finchetts’ quote sets out the proposed work, any VEU support that applies and your out-of-pocket cost.

It means you can compare your options and see the full number before deciding whether to go ahead.

How Finchetts checks your upgrade

Start by telling us what you’re looking to replace or improve.

We’ll assess your existing system and property, look at what you actually need from the replacement and check the relevant VEU pathway if support may apply.

Then we’ll provide a quote for the whole job, rather than leaving you to coordinate different parts of the upgrade yourself.

If you proceed, Finchetts coordinates the installation and manages the required VEU paperwork.

For an eligible job, you’ll receive a link from the provider, GEO, to confirm your agreement.

And once the installation is complete, our local team is still here if you need us.

Check what VEU support could apply to your upgrade

An upgrade needs to suit your property, the people using it and your budget, not just qualify for the biggest rebate being advertised.

If your heater, air conditioner or hot-water system is getting older, Finchetts can help you understand your options, what VEU support may apply and what the complete job will actually cost.

If you’re in Hamilton or the surrounding Western District, talk to us about your existing system before assuming an advertised rebate will apply to your upgrade.
