Summer or winter, how many rooms in your house do you actually use?
It’s a simple question, but it’s one of the biggest things to think about when you’re choosing between a ducted vs split system. The right answer isn’t the same for every home. It comes down to how you live.
Ducted or split: the quick version
| Ducted | Split systems |
|---|---|
| Reaches the whole house through vents. Can suit homes where everyone’s spread out. | Heats and cools the room it’s in. Can suit homes where life happens in one or two rooms. |
In one of our recent real jobs, a local home swapped ducted gas heating for two split systems. For that home, it made sense. For yours, it might not.
Three questions to ask yourself
- Which rooms do you spend the most time in, summer and winter?
- Are you heating or cooling rooms you barely use?
- Is there a room that’s always too hot or too cold?
Your answers help shape what suits your home, and they’re a great starting point when you talk to us.
