Start planning for next winter now

September 1, 2026

Spring has officially arrived, and after a long South West Victorian winter, heating is probably one of the last things you want to think about.

But hear us out.

Right now, you know exactly how your heating performed.

You know which rooms never quite warmed up. You know whether the heater struggled on those really cold mornings. And you’ve probably seen what it cost to run over winter.

Rather than forgetting about it until the temperature drops again next year, spring is a good time to work out what you’d like to change.

Think back over winter

Was your home as comfortable as you wanted it to be?

Maybe your heater ran constantly but struggled to keep up. Perhaps you relied on portable heaters in certain rooms, or your energy bills were higher than expected.

If you found yourself saying, “We really need to do something about this before next winter”, now is the time to make a note of it.

You have time to consider your options

Replacing or upgrading your heating doesn’t need to be a rushed decision.

Planning ahead gives you time to look at the different options, understand what will work for your home and consider your budget.

That might mean:

  • A gas log fire

  • A wood heater

  • Ducted reverse cycle heating and cooling

  • Split systems

  • Servicing or improving your existing setup

You can make the decision based on what you actually need, rather than what can be organised quickly when the first cold weather arrives.

Spring can be a good time to get it done

Unsurprisingly, heating enquiries increase when winter arrives.

Planning outside the busiest heating months can give you more time to organise a quote, choose your preferred system and schedule the work before you actually need it.

And if you’re renovating or building, thinking about heating early can make it much easier to incorporate the right system into your plans.

Don’t forget what annoyed you this winter

Once the warmer weather arrives, it’s very easy to forget about that freezing bedroom, noisy heater or power bill that made you wince.

Then suddenly, it’s winter again.

If your heating wasn’t quite right this year, use what you learned over winter to make next year more comfortable.

The Finchetts team can assess your current setup, talk through the options and provide a quote and measure.

Get it sorted while the memory is fresh, then when next winter rolls around, all you need to do is turn it on.

Winter comfort starts with the right heating
There’s more than one way to keep your home warm and comfortable. The right heating comes down to what you want from it. Maybe you love the warmth and atmosphere of a real fire. Perhaps convenience is the priority. Or you want one system that can keep the whole home comfortable year-round.
