Is your heater keeping up?

We’re well into winter now, and if your heater has been struggling, chances are you’ve noticed.

Maybe it’s running constantly but the house still feels cold. Perhaps some rooms are warm while others never quite get there. Or maybe your energy bills are climbing without your home feeling any more comfortable.

If that sounds familiar, your heating might need a little attention.

Your heater shouldn’t have to work flat out

On a freezing South West Victoria morning, every heater is going to work harder.

But if yours seems to be running non-stop and still isn’t keeping your home comfortable, there could be a reason.

It might be overdue for a service, there could be something affecting its performance, or the system may simply no longer be right for your home.

Signs your heating might need attention

You don’t necessarily need to wait until your heater stops working completely.

• Unusual noises or smells

• Energy bills increasing

Before assuming you need a whole new heating system, start with the basics.

A service can identify issues that may be affecting performance and help your heater operate more efficiently.

Just like a car, regular maintenance can make a big difference to how well your heating performs.

Sometimes a repair makes sense

If there’s a particular fault affecting your heating, a repair may be all that’s required.

Getting onto smaller problems early can also help prevent them becoming bigger and more expensive ones later.

And sometimes it’s time for an upgrade

Heating systems don’t last forever.

If your heater is getting older, regularly needs repairs or simply can’t comfortably heat your home anymore, it may be worth looking at your options.

Your home may have changed too. Renovations, extensions or changes to how you use different rooms can mean the system that once worked perfectly is no longer the best fit.
