Finchetts Plumbing and Westvic Staffing Solutions win top collaboration award

November 27, 2025

Finchetts Plumbing has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to apprenticeship training and regional workforce development, taking home the Collaboration Award at the Apprenticeship Employment Network (AEN) Victoria Awards held at Melbourne Town Hall last week.

The award celebrates Finchetts Plumbing’s 20-year partnership with Westvic Staffing Solutions, which has set a benchmark for excellence in apprentice training and industry collaboration across south-west Victoria.

Over the past two decades, Finchetts and Westvic have supported more than 53 apprentices and trainees in plumbing, electrical, refrigeration and business fields, achieving an impressive 85% completion rate – well above industry averages. Fifteen apprentices are currently active and thriving under the program.

Finchetts Plumbing, a family-owned business established in Hamilton in 1954, is known for its quality workmanship, distinctive orange branding, and commitment to creating opportunities for local young people.

Apprentices gain hands-on experience across residential, agricultural and commercial projects and benefit from flexible, on-the-job learning, exposure to multiple trades, and opportunities to attain dual qualifications.

Westvic Staffing Solutions General Manager – Western Victoria Region, Brendan Hawkins, congratulated the Finchetts team for their leadership and dedication.

“Finchetts Plumbing has shown what true collaboration looks like – consistent communication, mentoring, and a commitment to seeing every apprentice and trainee succeed”.

Michael King from Finchetts Plumbing said the recognition reflects Finchetts’ long-term investment in people and community.

“We’re incredibly proud of our apprentices and trainees and the support they receive from Westvic. This recognition also belongs to our dedicated staff and management, past and present, who have played a vital role in shaping the careers of so many. From apprentices celebrating 50 years of service to those stepping into management roles or building successful businesses of their own, their journeys are a testament to the power of collaboration. Together, we’re building the next generation of skilled tradespeople right here in regional Victoria.”

The partnership continues to deliver strong local outcomes, equipping apprentices and trainees with the skills, confidence and experience needed to shape the future of the plumbing industry.
